On Dec. 31, a member of Local 330 of the Intl. Brotherhood of Teamsters in Elgin, Ill. filed an 8-count lawsuit against the Local president and other officers.  Representing the employee is attny. J. Gordon Banks with the firm of Romero & Banks.  The member charges that the officers assisted the president when he embezzled union funds and engaged in racketeering activities in violation of the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act.

Also named in the lawsuit are IBT president James P. Hoffa and Hoffa's personal representative to Local 330, William Moore.  The lawsuit seeks the return of the embezzled funds, the placement of Local 330 under Trusteeship, the reemployment of union employees who allegedly were unjustly terminated, along with attny. fees and court costs.
